Best Rechargeable Batteries?

I have been looking around for rechargeable batteries to replace my ageing AA size GP2300 batteries. These batteries are for my old prosumer Nikon digital camera.

The main thing I hate about these GP batteries( and most of the normal Ni-MH batteries) is because it discharges very fast even though it comes with impressive capacities. Another thing is draining the batteries and it's memory effect. I don't want a half charged battery when I go out. And at the same time worry, whether I should go ahead fully charge the battery which might affect it's efficiency.

Fortunately for all of us, there are Hybrid Ni-MH ( or low self discharge battery ) on the market now. Hybrid Ni-MH batteries allow you to use the battery out of the box. It does not discharge fast and retains it very well. Best feature about these Hybrids is you can charge the batteries at any point, whether it's half, quarter or three quarter charge.

Let's take a look at some Hybrid Ni-MH batteries on the market.

Sanyo is the pioneer for Hybrid Ni-MH battery. Batteries are made in Japan, and chargers made in China. Slightly lower capacity than the other hybrids. Looks like a Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH with Charger sells for $18.11(at the time of posting) on Amazon.com . Also, Duracell Hybrid Battery is basically a repackaged Eneloop.

Batteries made in Taiwan. Got the same favourable reviews as Eneloop. I might just buy this and try. Checkout Imedion's price on Amazon.com .

Not much has been said about this battery, but I've seen tons of them in shops around my place. Batteries are made in Hong Kong/China/Singapore/Taiwan or Malaysia.

Charge retention is lower compared to others. And rechargeable up to 500 times only, I don't think I'll be buying this battery.
