404 File Not Found on Google Drive and Docs, Share Settings

There seem to be some confusion on sharing files if you're using Google Drive/Docs. People can't view files and all they get is '404 File Not Found'.

If the file you're sharing is set to 'private', only people with Gmail and are 'logged in' can view the file. Other email addresses wouldn't work.

Solution? Change the share setting on the file to 'Anyone with the link'. Now the file can be viewed from any email addresses. Now you will notice that the share button at the top right corner of the page has changed to a silhoutte with a chain.

  2. since Oct 2014 google drive will give a "file not found..error 404" if sharing ANY FILE OVER 400MB. Hundreds of users, incl. myself, even PAID customers get this error to date. Google "support" refuses to respond to this issue.
